Suspenseful!!!

Great read! I could not put it down. The story kept me wanting to read just one more chapter and then just one more chapter. I was disturbed by the violence halfway through the book, and wanted to stop reading, but I wanted to find out what would happen in the end for retribution, so I kept reading. I loved the mystery and suspense of the story. The characters were believable. It was my first read by Karin Slaughter. Well done. Great job!

Very good book although I would change one thing. The murder in the book dies and in my head it would have been better had Claire outsmarted him, tortured him and instead of killing him he gets arrested and spends his life in jail. I wanted him to comment on how what she did (the fire/gun/surprised him with the burner phone location) was unexpected and how she always kept him guessing and that’s why she was different and he really did love her. Overall a very good book with some twists and things I couldn’t guess. I wish there was a bit of an unspoken romance between Claire and the FBI agent also. I wanted him to come off as a bit of a safe place or savior and his position was sort of unclear until the end. I wanted her to still not trust him but for him to be trustworthy to the reader.

Incredible Thriller But Also Incredible Violence

This book was an absolute page turner. I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next. Really well written and just an awesome thriller. BUT, if you’re at all uneasy with violence against women, this is not a book for you. The depictions the author laid out were vivid, graphic and gut-wrenching. Very disturbing-you’ll need a strong stomachs to not let some of the subject matter affect you.

Quite possibly the scariest book I’ve ever read

Do not read this book if you can’t handle a horrifying psycho thriller that details rape, torture, and murder. It is suspenseful and a page turner, but only to find yourself left with an eerie, uneasy feeling. I was able to finish the book, but I probably could have gone through life without reading it.

A face paced and exciting read. Graphic, yes. Heart breaking, yes. But also an excellent representation of true character and how merciless people can really be. SPOILER: My only issue was Paul’s “fake death”, it’s unbelievability cheapened the otherwise great storyline.

The low review is because the writing is just not good. The story is absurdly outlandish and so CSI: Miami sequel. Cheap thriller I would have expected to see on the free reads list. I just couldn’t take the writing seriously. It was way too corny and cheap if you know what I mean. She could have gone so many routes with this story and written something with substance. Instead I got something with a James Bond style villain. Stupid read.

This book was a page turner and I couldn’t wait to finish it, however by the end of the book it started to fill like it was dragged out way to long, at first the plot was great but as the book got closer to the end the author started adding more and more to the plot to where it was almost overdone, also I could have done without the graphic violence and had to skip over some of those parts that I felt was way to detailed. But overall I did enjoy reading the book it kept me guessing till the end and was actually surprised at how the book ended, so good book if you are into mystery’s and don’t mind some overdone violent scenes..

When I first started this book I couldn’t put it down. Towards the end I felt a lot was revealed so I was just kind of reading through it to finish it, although I pretty much knew what was going to happen/what had already happened. Overall good book though.

Audiobook Narrator sounds like a robot

A few times I thought it was an actual robot I was listening to. That’s making it kind of boring and hard to follow for the first few chapters. Hopefully it gets better like everyone’s saying.

I found this story to be initially compelling -- but as it continued, it digressed into a depressing, predictable storyline in which the depraved creature truly was as evil as initially believed. So the surprise was that there was no surprise. The evil that seemed so incredulous was actually that evil. It doesn't seem that a story like this, due to its predictably, would be all that difficult to write. I kept hoping for a twist that would drop my jaw -- but it never came:(!

Quite possibly the scariest book I’ve ever read

Do not read this book if you can’t handle a horrifying psycho thriller that details rape, torture, and murder. It is suspenseful and a page turner, but only to find yourself left with an eerie, uneasy feeling. I was able to finish the book, but I probably could have gone through life without reading it.

The low review is because the writing is just not good. The story is absurdly outlandish and so CSI: Miami sequel. Cheap thriller I would have expected to see on the free reads list. I just couldn’t take the writing seriously. It was way too corny and cheap if you know what I mean. She could have gone so many routes with this story and written something with substance. Instead I got something with a James Bond style villain. Stupid read.

This book was a page turner and I couldn’t wait to finish it, however by the end of the book it started to fill like it was dragged out way to long, at first the plot was great but as the book got closer to the end the author started adding more and more to the plot to where it was almost overdone, also I could have done without the graphic violence and had to skip over some of those parts that I felt was way to detailed. But overall I did enjoy reading the book it kept me guessing till the end and was actually surprised at how the book ended, so good book if you are into mystery’s and don’t mind some overdone violent scenes..

I found this story to be initially compelling -- but as it continued, it digressed into a depressing, predictable storyline in which the depraved creature truly was as evil as initially believed. So the surprise was that there was no surprise. The evil that seemed so incredulous was actually that evil. It doesn't seem that a story like this, due to its predictably, would be all that difficult to write. I kept hoping for a twist that would drop my jaw -- but it never came:(!

Great read! I could not put it down. The story kept me wanting to read just one more chapter and then just one more chapter. I was disturbed by the violence halfway through the book, and wanted to stop reading, but I wanted to find out what would happen in the end for retribution, so I kept reading. I loved the mystery and suspense of the story. The characters were believable. It was my first read by Karin Slaughter. Well done. Great job!

Very good book although I would change one thing. The murder in the book dies and in my head it would have been better had Claire outsmarted him, tortured him and instead of killing him he gets arrested and spends his life in jail. I wanted him to comment on how what she did (the fire/gun/surprised him with the burner phone location) was unexpected and how she always kept him guessing and that’s why she was different and he really did love her. Overall a very good book with some twists and things I couldn’t guess. I wish there was a bit of an unspoken romance between Claire and the FBI agent also. I wanted him to come off as a bit of a safe place or savior and his position was sort of unclear until the end. I wanted her to still not trust him but for him to be trustworthy to the reader.

This book was an absolute page turner. I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next. Really well written and just an awesome thriller. BUT, if you’re at all uneasy with violence against women, this is not a book for you. The depictions the author laid out were vivid, graphic and gut-wrenching. Very disturbing-you’ll need a strong stomachs to not let some of the subject matter affect you.

Audiobook Narrator sounds like a robot

A few times I thought it was an actual robot I was listening to. That’s making it kind of boring and hard to follow for the first few chapters. Hopefully it gets better like everyone’s saying.

I found this story to be initially compelling -- but as it continued, it digressed into a depressing, predictable storyline in which the depraved creature truly was as evil as initially believed. So the surprise was that there was no surprise. The evil that seemed so incredulous was actually that evil. It doesn't seem that a story like this, due to its predictably, would be all that difficult to write. I kept hoping for a twist that would drop my jaw -- but it never came:(!

Great read! I could not put it down. The story kept me wanting to read just one more chapter and then just one more chapter. I was disturbed by the violence halfway through the book, and wanted to stop reading, but I wanted to find out what would happen in the end for retribution, so I kept reading. I loved the mystery and suspense of the story. The characters were believable. It was my first read by Karin Slaughter. Well done. Great job!

Very good book although I would change one thing. The murder in the book dies and in my head it would have been better had Claire outsmarted him, tortured him and instead of killing him he gets arrested and spends his life in jail. I wanted him to comment on how what she did (the fire/gun/surprised him with the burner phone location) was unexpected and how she always kept him guessing and that’s why she was different and he really did love her. Overall a very good book with some twists and things I couldn’t guess. I wish there was a bit of an unspoken romance between Claire and the FBI agent also. I wanted him to come off as a bit of a safe place or savior and his position was sort of unclear until the end. I wanted her to still not trust him but for him to be trustworthy to the reader.

Incredible Thriller But Also Incredible Violence

This book was an absolute page turner. I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next. Really well written and just an awesome thriller. BUT, if you’re at all uneasy with violence against women, this is not a book for you. The depictions the author laid out were vivid, graphic and gut-wrenching. Very disturbing-you’ll need a strong stomachs to not let some of the subject matter affect you.

Quite possibly the scariest book I’ve ever read

Do not read this book if you can’t handle a horrifying psycho thriller that details rape, torture, and murder. It is suspenseful and a page turner, but only to find yourself left with an eerie, uneasy feeling. I was able to finish the book, but I probably could have gone through life without reading it.

The low review is because the writing is just not good. The story is absurdly outlandish and so CSI: Miami sequel. Cheap thriller I would have expected to see on the free reads list. I just couldn’t take the writing seriously. It was way too corny and cheap if you know what I mean. She could have gone so many routes with this story and written something with substance. Instead I got something with a James Bond style villain. Stupid read.

This book was a page turner and I couldn’t wait to finish it, however by the end of the book it started to fill like it was dragged out way to long, at first the plot was great but as the book got closer to the end the author started adding more and more to the plot to where it was almost overdone, also I could have done without the graphic violence and had to skip over some of those parts that I felt was way to detailed. But overall I did enjoy reading the book it kept me guessing till the end and was actually surprised at how the book ended, so good book if you are into mystery’s and don’t mind some overdone violent scenes..

I was disturbed by the violence halfway through the book, and wanted to stop reading, but I wanted to find out what would happen in the end for retribution, so I kept reading. I loved the mystery and suspense of the story. The characters were believable. It was my first read by Karin Slaughter. Well done. Great job!

Very good book although I would change one thing. The murder in the book dies and in my head it would have been better had Claire outsmarted him, tortured him and instead of killing him he gets arrested and spends his life in jail. I wanted him to comment on how what she did (the fire/gun/surprised him with the burner phone location) was unexpected and how she always kept him guessing and that’s why she was different and he really did love her. Overall a very good book with some twists and things I couldn’t guess. I wish there was a bit of an unspoken romance between Claire and the FBI agent also. I wanted him to come off as a bit of a safe place or savior and his position was sort of unclear until the end. I wanted her to still not trust him but for him to be trustworthy to the reader.

This book was an absolute page turner. I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next. Really well written and just an awesome thriller. BUT, if you’re at all uneasy with violence against women, this is not a book for you. The depictions the author laid out were vivid, graphic and gut-wrenching. Very disturbing-you’ll need a strong stomachs to not let some of the subject matter affect you.

Do not read this book if you can’t handle a horrifying psycho thriller that details rape, torture, and murder. It is suspenseful and a page turner, but only to find yourself left with an eerie, uneasy feeling. I was able to finish the book, but I probably could have gone through life without reading it.

The low review is because the writing is just not good. The story is absurdly outlandish and so CSI: Miami sequel. Cheap thriller I would have expected to see on the free reads list. I just couldn’t take the writing seriously. It was way too corny and cheap if you know what I mean. She could have gone so many routes with this story and written something with substance. Instead I got something with a James Bond style villain. Stupid read.

This book was a page turner and I couldn’t wait to finish it, however by the end of the book it started to fill like it was dragged out way to long, at first the plot was great but as the book got closer to the end the author started adding more and more to the plot to where it was almost overdone, also I could have done without the graphic violence and had to skip over some of those parts that I felt was way to detailed. But overall I did enjoy reading the book it kept me guessing till the end and was actually surprised at how the book ended, so good book if you are into mystery’s and don’t mind some overdone violent scenes..

I found this story to be initially compelling -- but as it continued, it digressed into a depressing, predictable storyline in which the depraved creature truly was as evil as initially believed. So the surprise was that there was no surprise. The evil that seemed so incredulous was actually that evil. It doesn't seem that a story like this, due to its predictably, would be all that difficult to write. I kept hoping for a twist that would drop my jaw -- but it never came:(!

Heartbreakingly wonderful

Not for the faint of heart, but worth the disturbance. If you’ve lost a family member in a traumatic way it grips you from understanding the characters pain and longing to know the truth.

Disturbing. Twisted. LOVE!

Absolute love for this book. Idk if it’s the disturbance of it or the twisted and flawed characters but I love this book. If anyone asks what they should read, this is always my go to book. I love the reactions I receive from people who read it.

Graphic yes, disturbing yes, but that’s not why the low review.

The low review is because the writing is just not good. The story is absurdly outlandish and so CSI: Miami sequel. Cheap thriller I would have expected to see on the free reads list. I just couldn’t take the writing seriously. It was way too corny and cheap if you know what I mean. She could have gone so many routes with this story and written something with substance. Instead I got something with a James Bond style villain. Stupid read.

Necrophilia, that is what this book is about. Disgusting. Well written and suspenseful? Yes. Disturbing and vile? Also, yes. Very disappointed as this WAS one of my favorite authors.

Violent and upsetting

Very violent book with upsetting and disturbing imagery. Hard to imagine how one might even think of such a story.

Page turner!

This book was a page turner and I couldn’t wait to finish it, however by the end of the book it started to fill like it was dragged out way to long, at first the plot was great but as the book got closer to the end the author started adding more and more to the plot to where it was almost overdone, also I could have done without the graphic violence and had to skip over some of those parts that I felt was way to detailed. But overall I did enjoy reading the book it kept me guessing till the end and was actually surprised at how the book ended, so good book if you are into mystery’s and don’t mind some overdone violent scenes..

This book is soooooooo good. But definitely be prepared for some really F***d up stuff. I couldn’t put the book down and I loved the ending! This is the second book I’ve read by this Author and she does not disappoint. I will be reading more of her work!!!!

When I first started this book I couldn’t put it down. Towards the end I felt a lot was revealed so I was just kind of reading through it to finish it, although I pretty much knew what was going to happen/what had already happened. Overall good book though.

Audiobook Narrator sounds like a robot

A few times I thought it was an actual robot I was listening to. That’s making it kind of boring and hard to follow for the first few chapters. Hopefully it gets better like everyone’s saying.

You never really know someone

A friend from Tampa, FL recommended I read this novel. I am so happy I did ! It kept me addicted and interested from beginning to end ! The characters were clear and easy to understand . I like the feeling where you think there would be some crazy twist but there's not but it's still crazy ! Loved it!

I found this story to be initially compelling -- but as it continued, it digressed into a depressing, predictable storyline in which the depraved creature truly was as evil as initially believed. So the surprise was that there was no surprise. The evil that seemed so incredulous was actually that evil. It doesn't seem that a story like this, due to its predictably, would be all that difficult to write. I kept hoping for a twist that would drop my jaw -- but it never came:(!
